The Body's Secret Army, the second documentary within the AstraZeneca Nobel Medicine Initiative, is a 30 minute program which introduces viewers to scientists, doctors, and patients who are united by their determination to unlock the immune system’s mysteries, as well as to some of the Nobel Prize-awarded pioneers whose discoveries opened the doors to today’s advances. These pioneers have helped unravel the immune system’s basic principles and reveal the secrets to its ability to fight any number of diseases. The documentary also explores how recent advances in immunology have allowed doctors to successfully treat diseases that once seemed incurable. The program was produced by the award-winning US production company Kikim Media and is currently being broadcast by public television stations.

The documentary delves into the foundations of today's memory research which was laid by early 20th Century Nobel Prize-awarded pioneers, and uncovers how today's neuroscientists are helping to find new treatments for disorders of memory. The film provides a unique insight into the secrets of the brain's astounding ability to record and recall information, and includes interviews with some of today's most prominent scientists, such as Eric Kandel, the 2000 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine.
